Wedding Planning Essentials {Inspired by Color}: Celebrations

There’s one beautiful thing that links all weddings together. No matter if they’re an indoor or an outdoor event, an extravagant affair of 200 or an intimate gathering of 30, the nuptials of a couple of 20 somethings or a second marriage for a pair of 40 somethings, weddings at the heart of it all are the loveliest of celebrations. They’re a celebration of the quiet love felt between two people that just for a day a select few get to be a part of. Today’s color story is a tribute to all those love celebrations. Taking inspiration from the festivities that will be held across North America this week, with Canada Day tomorrow and The Fourth of July on Friday, we’ve created a patriotic and bold palette that translates into a sophisticated color combo perfect for a profusion of love. Cheers to all you love birds.

Wedding Planning Essentials {Inspired by Color}: Whitewash

After a long and cold Canadian winter, Spring has finally decided to grace us with her presence and we’re oh so happy to have her! We’re ready for a fresh start, and that’s exactly what this season gives us and what’s got us inspired today.

We can’t help but share our feelings of inspiration and we’re doing it through our latest color story board, Whitewash. There’s nothing much to this color scheme, other than varying simple shades of white, but in its simplicity every square inch of the board oozes fresh beginnings and new possibilities.

Happy St. Patty’s Day! We hope everyone is enjoying this cheerful holiday and taking the time to celebrate the beautiful heritage and culture of the Irish. We’ve got plenty of our own celebratory plans on the go, including the sharing of our newest color story board, Green Stunner. When we realized the next installment of our color inspiration boards fell on St. Patrick’s Day, we could not not feature green. Although we didn’t really need convincing to showcase the gorgeous hue.

The many shades of green can be used to form countless wedding color schemes. And whether used as a strong primary or as a calming accent, green always brings with it a little sense of magic and a lot of elegance. We went bold with our board, using emerald as our primary, accenting by lighter green tones, neutral greys and touches of sparkly metallics, and we think the end result is nothing short of stunning.

Wedding Planning Essentials: Introducing {Inspired by Color}

inspired-by-colour-header

I seem to be excited a lot these days. And a great deal of that is because of all the new creative content I’ve had the pleasure of pulling together for the revamped ‘The Details’ wedding blog. And today is no different. Today marks the start of sharing custom color story boards, boards that are meant to get your creative juices flowing as you plan your own personal wedding design. Pulling together seemingly unrelated elements that combine to tell a story that inspires emotion is a creative activity that I adore. So yet again, I’m very excited!

Inspired by this first for the blog, I’ve selected a spring palette to kick things off. Featuring calm taupes and subtle greys to reflect the quiet awakening of life all around, and soft pinks and mint greens to represent the prettiness of the transition from winter to spring, this c0lor story is all about new beginnings.

DIY Wedding Decor Ideas: A Touch of {Art Deco} Gold

diy glittered tealight holders

I’m a happy girl today. Not only is it DIY Wednesday but I get to play around with some pretty gold glitter! With Art Deco themed weddings still all the rage, when asked to think of an idea for today’s post I instantly jumped at the chance to share my fave DIY from our very own Deco themed inspiration shoot. And the best part, it’s ‘3 step simple’. So get ready to get your glitter on girls!

The Supplies

The 3 Easy Steps

diy glittered tealight holders - step 1

Step 1. Using a clean cloth make sure your luminary is free of all dirt and dust.

diy glittered tealight holders - step 2

Step 2. In a very well ventilated area, using an up and down motion for an uneven finish, spray on the adhesive. Go light with the spray and keep it concentrated to the top of the luminary.

diy glittered tealight holders - step 3

Step 3. Lightly dust glitter directly onto the sprayed area. {Tip: Take care to avoid a heavy handed application. A thin finish produces the prettiest effect, allowing the candlelight to shine through}

The {Glitzy} End Result

Can you believe it’s that simple? Makes you want to make tons of them doesn’t it! And that’s a good thing because they do look best in groups. For an added touch of interest, alternate the ends of the luminaries you’re spraying. You’ll get a lovely effect from the various heights of candlelight.

Happy Monday! It’s the start of a new week and we’re over-the-moon excited to be launching a new blog series. Taking cue from all the great feedback we’ve received on the Bridal Style approach to this year’s issue of Weddingstar magazine, we’ve decided to use our blog to expand on and explore the styles in all their pretty details. We’ll be breaking it all down to somewhat of a science, showing how personal style translates into a wedding design, in hopes that it’ll spark inspiration for all the brides who have yet to define their wedding style.

We’re calling the series A Girl & Her Table and because we’re in the depths of a long cold winter and in need of a serious pick me up, we’re starting the series with a punch of color and a dose of sunshine. With the Beach Boys playing in the background, and Twizzlers scattered across our inspiration boards, we introduce you to our…
