Singing in the Rain: How to Embrace A Rainy Wedding Day

{ Scott Kelby }

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today’s post is inspired by the weather – with rain pouring down at Weddingstar HQ today I figured it was a perfect time to share some great tips and inspirations to turn inclement weather on your big day from a disaster to a treasure! Now, I know that might seem like an impossible feat to many, but I’ve seen so many amazing wedding photos taken in the rain that I think with a little preparation, rain can be a blessing for one of a kind photos you’ll love! After all, many actually think that rain on your wedding day is a sign of good luck — and I’m here to show you why!

I have to admit that the photo above from Table 4 is one of my all time favorite wedding pictures! I love the umbrellas, the poses, the adorable bride and groom – everything! As you can see, umbrella’s actually make wonderful props for wedding photos in rain or shine. So, if you you’re lucky enough that it rains on your big day, you can have the opportunity to grab really unique and beautiful photos! All you have to do is make sure you’re prepared and you’ll have nothing to worry about!

The best way to get set for the rain? Buy an awesome umbrella that will look great before, during and after your photos! That way you’ll get lots of use out of it and it’ll always brighten a rainy day with memories of your amazing wedding!

Another great prop to prepare you for showers – cute rain boots! From classic yellow to brightly patterned to sleek black, rain boots have come a long way in the past few years! Grab a pair to match your wedding colors, that has your favorite pattern or matches your theme! Plus, once again, you’ll get lots of wear out of them even if it doesn’t rain on your wedding day so you won’t have to stress the cost if the weather doesn’t cooperate!

I’ve saved the simplest and best advice for last – and it’s all about your attitude. I know that rain on your big day can seem like a nightmare – your hair and makeup might get wet, your dress could get muddy, heck, you might even step in a puddle and wreck your shoes! But, at the end of the day, you just need to remind yourself about what that day is all about – your love for your partner. Shoes and dresses will come and go, but your love won’t – keep that mantra strong while you steel yourself to embrace your raining wedding day with a smile (and maybe even a little song!). After all, if Gene Kelly can look so happy splashing in those puddles, so can you 🙂
