From striking visuals that I promise will inspire you to a simple list of 5 essentials, I’ve made sure to include every detail so making your own wedding welcome bags will be a breeze. Get ready to become the ultimate DIY bride, let’s get your wedding welcome bags started!

The first look I created was inspired by our brand new Wanderlust Collection – which is perfect for a destination or travel themed wedding. What I loved most about creating these bags was how effortless it was to design a cohesive look from utilizing pieces from the whole collection. All I had to do was throw in a few extra beach-ready accessories and these bags were ready for their big close-up! Plus, taking inspiration from some crafty Pinterst pins, a few lengths of our striped twine created a one of a kind backdrop that’s perfectly fitting to welcome your guests to their destination.

Along with the Wanderlust Collection, I also used our: Chalkboard Arrow // Airmail Diecut Self Closing CD Sleeve // Single Use Camera in Vintage Design // Crystal Heart T-Strap Sandal.

Now, that’s perfect to get you started, but there’s a few more details that I think are essential to create the ultimate wedding welcome bag. So, let’s dive into a more complex design that’s sure to help make your destination wedding unforgettable!

Take your welcome bag from ordinary to extraordinary with a few extra tweaks that make it really shine. Add in easy snacks and something to drink to save your guests from the temptation of the over-priced minibar or change-eating vending machine. Throw in some local favorites like postcards or must-see tourist attractions along with a few essentials like band-aids and some Tylenol and you’ve got all your bases covered. For an extra touch, I especially loved adding little personalized notions to most of my store bought stuffers with things like custom stickers or a little wrap of ribbon to really make them unique!

Expert Tip: Instead of throwing in your snacks in their normal packaging, pump up the look of your bag with ease when you encase them in something like our Personalized Mini Glass Bottles with Wire Snaps or even a simple Kraft Paper Self-Standing Goodie Bag with a sticker and some twine wrapped around it for added charm.

Wedding welcome bags though aren’t just for destination weddings, so I wanted to make sure everyone having a local wedding got some great inspiration too! Using the same kind of essentials, I simply swapped out the more beach orientated accessories for some delectable treats and that was that. Local welcome bags have a little more room to play with because you won’t have to travel very far with the contents. That’s why I’ve included things like chocolates (which otherwise face a melting factor!) and our “Sweetie Pies” Mini Pie Packaging Kits. It’s also a great idea to keep in some local favorites of yours — here I’ve again utilized the postcards of our city shot by our own in-house photographer. And, while I didn’t include any, a local bag can be finished off with a little bottle of your favorite spirits to let guests start the party a little early!

Expert Tip: Stay on budget easily with bulk candies that you can transform into wedding-ready treats with our simple packaging options!

A final look I wanted to create was one that was suited to the budget bride. Not all of us have the cash for a $40 welcome bag, so this option has all your essentials and is under twenty bucks! Plus, it’s cute, bold and sweet (a great combination if you ask me!). If your wedding isn’t quite so colorful, just swap some of the candy for simpler pleasures and find a different cd sleeve or thank you from our huge variety of designs.

And speaking of designs, we have a lot more tote bags too – so make sure you check those out if wanderlust notions or wiener dogs don’t exactly go with your wedding theme!

Finally, as promised, here’s my list of the 5 essential items that every wedding welcome bag should include. From snacks to a custom thank you cards, each key piece shows what you can make with a little elbow grease, some ingenuity and of course a little help from us! I hope you enjoy¬† it and have a very happy wedding planning journey!
