Today marks our first DIY post of the summer season and its definitely got us channeling our inner garden goddesses. With our green thumbs covered in soil we’re showing you how to create some of the sweetest “sun-spired” party and wedding favors around. And to top off these ultra cute giveaways we’re pairing them with simple wooden stake place markers, making them a super smart concept too. So get out your garden gloves ladies, and get ready to make pretty!
The Supplies
- mini mason jar
- grey wooden stake
- expressions ‘xo’ design small rectangular tag in pewter grey
- mini wooden clip in white
- grey spray paint
- vintage decor paint – we like martha stewart’s collection in ‘antique sky’ and ‘wedding cake’ + paint brush for application
- succulents (we recommend going with a mix of varieties) and potting soil (not shown)
The Step by Step
Step 1: using any variety of grey spray paint, give your jar a base layer of grey paint. Don’t worry about a perfectly even application. You just need a thin base, concentrated on the pressed letters of your jar.
Step 2: using alternating vertical, horizontal and angular strokes, coat the jar with your vintage paint. To ensure that vintage finish, avoid a perfectly even application, allowing your grey base to come through in some spots.
Step 3: without allowing the paint to dry, using a cloth or just your finger, gently rub the paint off the pressed letters, and in any additional spots on the jar where you want more grey to peek through.
Step 4: fill your jar with potting soil and then transfer your succulent into the jar, such that just the top is level with the opening.
Step 5: complete the look with a stake place marker and a thank you tag.
The End Result
xoxo.
This is absolutely gorgeous! Not sure which feature we liked more–part one or part two!!
