I’m a complete and total sucker for a wedding that includes special unexpected little extras throughout its design. I’m talking about those that go above and beyond the must have staples, like flowers or candles, and include DIY details that personalize and elevate the entire look of the event. So when fabric ribbons and flowers were added to the Weddingstar line up my mind immediately starting thinking about all the amazing decorative possibilities. Today I’m sharing one of my faves, the fabric flower chair back. Whether used as ceremony aisle markers, bride and groom chair backs or overall chair decor, this pretty extra is a must have as far as I’m concerned! And as an added bonus, it can be repurposed in other decorative ways. Get ready to fall in love!
The Supplies
- ruffled fabric ribbon trim in pastel pink x 2
- fabric ruffle flower in vintage pink, one small and one medium
- white lace ribbon
- glue gun
The Step by Step
Step 1: with the chair’s back facing you, hang the ribbon over the top center point of your chair, creating a loop. Don’t worry about keeping either side of your hanging strands even in length. Keeping them at slightly different lengths provides for a prettier end result.
Steps 2&3: loop the right strand under and over.
Step 4: do the same to the left strand.
Step 5: pull both strands to tighten. This step will also pull your loop over such that it’s facing you, as shown in image 5.
Steps 6 and 7: repeat steps 1-5 on your second strand of ribbon to achieve the result shown in image 7.
Step 8: tie on a strand of lace for added texture.
Step 9: glue your medium flower to the right side of your ribbon formation.
Step 10: glue your small flower to the left side of your ribbon formation, slightly lower than your medium flower.
The {Lovely} End Result
Something New
If applied correctly the chair back can be removed from the chair in such a way that the flowers stay attached, allowing you to use this pretty decorative creation for plenty of other wedding day accents, like part of a custom backdrop or as table trim.
