Designer Spotlight: Weddingstar Goes to the Opera

As Weddingstar’s in-house photographer and videographer it’s always a welcome change of pace when I can get outside of the studio to do some on-location shooting.  This summer I was fortunate enough to head up to the Calgary Opera House to capture the behind-the-scenes action from one of our largest photo shoots for the 2012 Weddingstar magazine.

Complete with designers, models, photographers, make-up artists, and professional stagers, the opera house was transformed to accommodate a mock wedding ceremony and reception.  From the aisles to the rafters, brand new Weddingstar products were used to create some truly stunning scenes.  It’s always amazing to see the orchestration of these shoots come together before your eyes.

One thing that the pictures don’t show you however, is how hot it was in that opera house.  With temperatures climbing passed 30 degres Celsius and the studio lights turning the main room into a sauna, there was no escape from the heat that day.  Combine this with an already tight schedule and you could say that we found ourselves the perfect recipe for a literal pressure cooker.

Despite this, there was a great energy to the shoot.  One by one the product shot list shrunk as the opera house was transformed again and again to highlight the various stages of our wedding.

Throughout the day I brought out the HD Cam to capture some of the highlights.  My goal was to create a short promo for the December release of the new magazine, and what do you know, here it is! {Just press below}

I think you’ll be pleased with all of the exciting additions we have in store for 2012.  In the meantime, I’ll be back in the studio.
