DIY Wedding Wednesday: Gold Glittered Pomander Chair Markers

gold glitter pomander chair markers

It was around this time two years ago that I discovered a little DIY secret that would forever change my creative repertoire. I now use it in my wedding designs, home accents, greeting cards, and just about everything else I embark on creatively. That little secret is glitter, gold and beyond, and ever since I realized how it could be added to just about anything to majorly up the pretty factor, I’ve been hooked. There’s no detail safe from my glitter addiction and after checking out today’s post, chances are you may quickly join the shimmer squad. Here’s how to use the golden good stuff to create some seriously sparkly chair markers.

The Supplies

The Step by Step

gold glittered pomander balls - step 1

Step 1: pour out a generous amount of fine gold glitter onto your work surface. Make sure to first line your surface with a layer of paper towels. The porous nature of the towels will aid  to ease the application of the glitter. Next, using a thin tipped paint brush, begin to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the tips of the wooden curls of your pomander ball. Avoid too heavy an application of glue as it’ll result in clumpy glitter. Start out the glitter application to half of the pomander, doing so in sections of approximately 5-6 floral curls at a time.

Step 2: once the glue has been applied, roll the florals into the glitter and shake off access. Make sure you apply the glitter quickly after the glue application to avoid the glue drying up. If a spot has been missed, reapply more glue onto that spot specifically and roll in the glitter. Avoid overlapping already applied glitter with glue as it’ll result in a lumpy and patchy finish.

Step 3: for floral centers that are not flush with the curls, apply glue to the center point and manually dust on the glitter. Continue steps 1-3 until half of the pomander is complete, then set aside to dry before working on the other side.

Step 4: push hot glue in between a couple of the florals. Immediately after, using a small fine tipped tool, push through a piece of gold ribbon that has been fold in half, at the halfway point. Hold for a few seconds to set. Once dry, the pomander is complete. Repeat steps 1-4 for your other pomander.

Weddingstar Wedding Cake Table Decorating Ideas and Inspiration

Happy Monday Lovelies! Today we’re excited to share with you the key pieces you need to master your cake table design. Whether you’re having a wedding cake, an assortment of pies, candy, or another type of dessert at your wedding, how you decorate your dessert display is a great, and sweet, way to impress your guests. No matter your budget, here are three equally beautiful ways you can decorate your cake table.

Keep it simple

Let’s start with the basics. These are the key pieces you need to accompany your cake or dessert. The serving set is a necessity for serving cake, and with such a selection of serving sets available you can definitely do so in style. The cake topper is a traditional but fun way to show a little personality – even if you’re not serving cake, simply place it next to your dessert for a sweet added touch! Personalized napkins are inexpensive and come in a variety of colors and designs to suit all wedding themes. And if you’re serving smaller bite-size desserts, your napkins can even replace the need to rent extra plates! Here are three great examples of cake tables that stick to the basics.

Here’s an example of a simple yet beautiful cake table where the bride and groom chose not to have a cake topper. Instead, they put that part of their budget towards some smaller sweets for their guests to enjoy before the cake is served. What a great idea!

A little extra

So you’ve got the basics but want a little extra? No problem! Candles are a great way to add inexpensive ambiance to your tables. If your venue doesn’t allow for real flame, choose a few candle holders and pair them with flameless battery operated tealights for the exact same effect without all the worry. Decorative pieces (that suit your theme) and smaller treats (like we saw in the example above) for your guests are some other great ways to add those extra personal touches we all love. Here are two examples of how you can up the ante on your dessert table design.
