If you live in a part of the world that sees four seasons, it’s this time of year many describe as dreary. Daylight hours are shorter, trees are bare and bright colors no longer fill the landscape. But there’s another, much more inspiring way of looking at it. Now’s a time full of opportunity. Now’s when we seem to have more “me” and “we” time, time to put towards trying new things, exploring new ideas and crafting to our heart’s content. Now is the perfect time to cuddle up at home and pour hours and hours into wedding planning, starting with a blank canvas and creating a day as unique as it can possible be. So with crisp cold air around us, and the weekend ahead of us, let’s get inspired by the cool tones that surround us and the lovely and inviting hues that fill up our latest Inspired by Color series mood board, the many “Shades of Grey”.

There’s one beautiful thing that links all weddings together. No matter if they’re an indoor or an outdoor event, an extravagant affair of 200 or an intimate gathering of 30, the nuptials of a couple of 20 somethings or a second marriage for a pair of 40 somethings, weddings at the heart of it all are the loveliest of celebrations. They’re a celebration of the quiet love felt between two people that just for a day a select few get to be a part of. Today’s color story is a tribute to all those love celebrations. Taking inspiration from the festivities that will be held across North America this week, with Canada Day tomorrow and The Fourth of July on Friday, we’ve created a patriotic and bold palette that translates into a sophisticated color combo perfect for a profusion of love. Cheers to all you love birds.
I seem to be excited a lot these days. And a great deal of that is because of all the new creative content I’ve had the pleasure of pulling together for the revamped ‘The Details’ wedding blog. And today is no different. Today marks the start of sharing custom color story boards, boards that are meant to get your creative juices flowing as you plan your own personal wedding design. Pulling together seemingly unrelated elements that combine to tell a story that inspires emotion is a creative activity that I adore. So yet again, I’m very excited!
Inspired by this first for the blog, I’ve selected a spring palette to kick things off. Featuring calm taupes and subtle greys to reflect the quiet awakening of life all around, and soft pinks and mint greens to represent the prettiness of the transition from winter to spring, this c0lor story is all about new beginnings.
