Style Spotlight: Dreamy and Sweet

Dreamy and Sweet Wedding Dessert Table

There is no doubt that great weddings are made up of two amazing people in love. But what makes them remain a favorite in your guests’ minds comes down to the overall guest experience. One way to make anyone happy, whether at a wedding or not, is with really good food. Sweet potato fries, anyone? So today we’re featuring some of our favorite ways to get your guests’ taste buds revving, including one of our favorite dessert displays (shown above) from the 2016 Weddingstar magazine. Is your mouth watering yet?

Idea 1: The Dessert Station

The dessert station is always a favorite and allows guests to choose from other desserts besides the wedding cake. This is a great way to cater to everyone’s sweet tooth whether they love pie, cake or candy. Plus, having these smaller bites to choose from gives guests something to nibble on throughout the night, or take home with them to enjoy later on.

Idea 2: The Welcome Drink Station

While food is a definite must at weddings, so are the drinks. And what sweeter way to welcome guests to your reception than by displaying a table of drinks ready to enjoy right by the entrance. Whether it’s your favorite mixed drink, a bottle of beer or a glass of wine, it’s sure to be appreciated. Just don’t forget to set out some non-alcoholic options for those that prefer otherwise. Cheers!

Idea 3: The Popcorn Station

Popcorn is a great choice to serve at weddings and is a favorite for all ages. Create a self-serve popcorn station with dip-dyed baskets full of plain popcorn, then set out mini shakers filled with a variety of popular seasonings. You can even pre-fill these shakers with seasonings for guests to take home as favors.

Idea 4: The Chili ‘n Fries Station

And now for something completely different – delicious, hearty, homemade chili because, why not!? Served grab-n-go style in mingle−friendly bowls that are just the right size, your guests will love this fan favorite. And for those who may not be a fan, have some sweet potato fries at the ready for a snack that’s sure to satisfy. You can even pre-package your favorite chili sauce or spice rub as a favor your guests can use at home.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: Terrarium Place Markers

diy terrarium place markers

It would be a serious understatement to say that I’m over the moon excited about today’s post. Not only is it a lovely little creative spin on a traditional place card concept, it also happens to be the first exclusive look into the amazing content gracing the pages of the new 2016 Weddingstar magazine. And when I say this is but a tiny glimpse at a mass of unique wedding ideas, all pulled together to help brides everywhere celebrate beautifully, I’m hardly doing the magazine justice. But no need to take my word for it. Take a peek at the cover reveal concluding today’s post and follow the link to get your hands on everything pretty. And in the meantime, here’s how to make these little lovelies.

The Supplies

The Step by Step

diy terrarium place markers - step 1 and 2

Step 1: pull a small mound of faux moss off the ribbon backer. Using a small paint brush, apply mod podge (or any white all purpose glue) to the base of the bell jar and apply the moss. Leave to let dry.

Step 2: once the moss has set, using your twigs create a tunnel in the center of the mound. Apply a small dab of hot glue to the bottom and quickly insert your twigs. Hold until the glue has set and the twigs are securely in place.

Step 3: once your place card has been written out, using the end of your paintbrush, curl the ends of the card. For an authentic scroll effect, angle your brush and do so in opposite direction on either end.

Step 4: hot glue your scroll card to the twigs.

Wedding Planning Tips: Pop Up Photo Booth How-To

photo booth how to

There’s one thing that you definitely don’t want to forget to do on your wedding day, and that’s to have fun! And let’s face it, with the stress of all the planning and the intensity of the emotion that goes into the big day, it’s easy to forget that a wedding day is first and foremost a major celebration. So we thought we’d remind you of all the fun there is to be had by breaking down the how-to of one of our favorite wedding pastimes, the pop up photo booth. And with just three easy steps to get the look, stress won’t be a factor. Time for a good giggle!

Step 1: The Backdrop

The fundamental basis behind any pop up booth is obviously the background setting. Set the stage right by considering both a personalized backdrop option as well as the overall surrounding area. Having both fit to theme will help set the mood for your guests and guarantees the best final images.

Step 2: Provide Props

Encourage the good times with plenty of props for your guests to play around with. Get creative with what you incorporate and make your props fit to theme. Remember to include things for both male and female guests, young and old alike.

Step 3: Capture the Moments

No pros required! A pop up photo booth is not for your photographer to man. His or her time is better spent capturing other parts of your day. Besides, you’re guaranteed to get more candid footage if you allow your guests to capture the moments themselves. Just set up a bunch of disposable cameras and let the clicking begin!
