DIY Wedding Wednesday: White Box + Satin Ribbon = Endless Possibilities

ribbon diy

Wednesday has official become my favorite day of the week. It’s the day I get to have a bit of creative fun DIY’ing and making little pretties. And boy am I having fun today! If you visited the blog this past Monday you would have learned how far a little ribbon can get you in your quest to accessorize your wedding. Today I decided to test the limits by seeing how different I could make a plain white favor box look with just the varied use of ribbon. No additional trims allowed. Long story short, I had to stop at five to avoid a never ending post!

As you’ll see, the possibilities really are endless, and all with a super sweet finish.

The Step by Step

Step 1: cross wrap your darkest shade of blue ribbon, finishing it off at the bottom of the box for a seamless top finish.

Step 2: loop your darkest shade of ribbon two or three times. Make sure the length of your formation is in proportion to your favor box.

Step 3: repeat step 2 on your lighter shade of blue ribbon.

Step 4: overlap your two looped formations, darkest on bottom, and tie together with white ribbon. Snip off any access white ribbon so that only a wrap remains.

Steps 5 & 6: tie a strip of white ribbon into a double bow, keeping size in proportion to your blue ribbons and your favor box.

Step 7: glue your layered blue ribbons vertically to the middle of your box.

Step 8: glue your white double bow horizontally to the middle point of your blue ribbons.

Steps 4 – 6: twist the ribbon around itself to create a rosette and glue at the finish point.

Step 7 (not shown): repeat steps 2 – 6 on your lighter shade of ribbon, using a shorter length for a smaller finish, approximately half of what was used for the larger rosette.

Step 8: glue rosettes onto your box, larger one over the point where your two wraps join and the smaller one just below that point, slightly to the right.
