DIY Wedding Wednesday: Sweet Celebrations – The S’mores Bar How-To

s'mores bar how-to

Between the abundance of chocolate chunks, the melt in your mouth marshmallows, and the savory spiked eggnog, today’s how-to may be our most delicious and decadent post to date. And the timing really couldn’t be any better. Not only is this spread a surefire hit for any rustic or winter themed wedding, it also happens to have party perfection written all over it. We’re thinking, happy new year’s indeed. Here’s everything you need to create your own scrumptious s’mores bar.

Comfort Creations

Let’s start with the ultimate must do, shall we. If you’re going to go with a s’mores bar, you just have to give your guests a chance to create their own delicious desserts. The fun’s all in the making after all. Set them up with everything they need, displayed in a set of pretty apothecary jars.

Speaking of Indulgences

No delicious sweet treat should go unaccompanied by an equally indulgent bevy. We highly recommend a spiked eggnog recipe, served up in thought through and personalized glassware.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: How-To Set Up the Ultimate Bubbly Bar

bubbly bar how-to

It may technically be hump day but we’re not feeling any of the usual mid week woes, and it has absolutely everything to do with today’s how-to feature. I mean how could anyone feel anything but fantastic when champagne’s involved? From ready to serve to the cutest to go option, today’s bubbly bar how-to covers all the necessary yummy grounds. And you know we just had to do some taste testing to make sure our recommendations were on point. After much super scientific research the verdict is definite. We say skip the fondue, the desserts, the signature welcome cocktail, and go champagne all the way. Here’s how to create your ultimate wedding day bubbly bar.

Ready to Serve

Best to start with the necessities, and in our opinion that comes in the form of ready to serve sparkly in perfectly personalized flutes, complete with pink sugar rims and pomegranate garnishes.

Make Your Own Mimosa

Get your guests involved by allowing them to serve up their own yummy champagne creation. Can anyone say mimosa time?!

Take One to Go

No bubbly bar is complete without a to go takeaway. Serve your mini champagne bottle favors up with the perfect finish, a pop of gold glitter.

Don’t Forget the Decor

No set up is complete without all the pretty details, think gold garlands and acrylic signage. And we love the idea of incorporating pink and gold ornaments that mimic the delicious bubbles featured at the bar.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: Pretty Paper Garland How-To

mini paper garland how-to

OK. So I think I can now officially say that I’ve got somewhat of a little obsession with paper. But not just any kind of paper. The kind that can be used to create little decorative details that instantly up the pretty factor on whatever they’re applied to. Couple that concept with scale, of the miniature kind, and I’m a happy girl! So when I was presented with the request to figure out a few ways to feature one of Weddingstar’s newest decorative trims, the mini white paper garland, I sprang to the challenge with glitter and spray paint in hand! Here are three of my favorite ways to put this petite paper trim to work.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: How To Accessorize Your Drink Station

how to accessorize your drink station

Around here we don’t need an excuse to find and try out new drink recipes. But with Valentine’s Day just a few days away, we’ve got a pretty great one. So we went on the hunt, and boy did we find a tasty mix! To share our latest cocktail find, which just happens to be perfect for the upcoming holiday of love and certainly for any wedding celebration, we’re also taking the opportunity to provide some insider tips on how to style your drink station. Using just a few easy tricks we’ll show you how to take any sipper set up from merely functional to simply fabulous.

Here’s the breakdown on everything you need to know to get the look, finished off with that cocktail recipe we promised.

Styling Tip #1: Go for the Upgrade

Appearance is everything. Swap out typical glassware options for stylish stemware that works with your wedding day design.

Styling Tip #2: Style your Stem

Don’t have the budget for upgraded glassware? Give a simple stem a decorative face lift by adding creative, theme appropriate charms to elevate their look.

Styling Tip #3: Signature Sippers

Instead of serving straight sparkling wine or a common cocktail, go with a drink that either has special meaning to you and your new hubby, or that acts as a representation of your wedding day design. Give it a name and you’ve got your own personal signature sipper.

Styling Tips #4 – 6: Bring on the Extras

Think beyond the drink. Fill your display with pretty details that won’t go unnoticed. Think a paper lantern overhang, custom personalized signage and floral printed paper straws, for the complete pretty picture.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: Signature Drink Station How-To

signature drink station how to

It’s the holiday season, which just so happens to double as the best time of year to work through some trial runs for your wedding day details. From perfecting place settings, to trying out centerpiece concepts, now’s the time to test and put your ideas to good use. In the spirit of strategic celebrations, today we’re sharing a how-to for a guest treat sure to be a hit at any holiday party or wedding, the Signature Drink Station. Whether you make it a mocktail or a cocktail, sweet refreshments perfectly presented will no doubt be enjoyed by all. Here are all the elements you need to pull off your mini bar.

 The Supplies

The How-To

drink dispenser cling

Step 1: confirm with your venue that they’ll accommodate a specialty drink request (most will) and ensure that a bartender can be dedicated to servicing your drink station. If you are going with a non-alcoholic beverage you can skip the latter and treat your station as a self-serve option.

Step 2: come up with your signature drink recipe. Go with something that acts as an homage to the two of you, your favorite drink recipe for example, and if possible, have it color coordinate with your overall event color scheme. For our main recipe we went with a simple and delicious mix of cherry vodka and cranberry juice.

Step 3: come up with a name for your signature drink and have customized signage created to display it. We went with an Expressions Cling which fit perfectly onto the dispenser.

Step 4: flash forward to the day of and get set up! The first and main component is of course your drink, which should be featured in your dispenser. You can keep this as a non-alcoholic mix, so that even little ones can enjoy, and have your bartender mix in the alcohol to order. If you’re sure that everyone will enjoy a pre-mixed cocktail, then have all your ingredients added to the dispenser. Finish with ice to keep the mix cool.

paper straws mini martini

Step 5: have a few pre-poured drinks setup as part of the overall presentation. Setup should occur just before the start of your cocktail reception, to ensure drinks are served chilled. Poured drinks should include all the trims, i.e. sugared rims and color coordinated paper straws. Rest should be poured and served to order.

Step 6: enjoy!
