DIY Wedding Wednesday: How To Pull Off a Modern Minimalist Wedding

modern minimalist wedding design how-to

There’s something to be said about adhering to the old “less is more” concept when designing a wedding. Certainly if it’s a modern look you’re after, the minimalist approach is the way to go. But minimalist need not mean basic. It’s the exact opposite. When it’s only choice items you decide to incorporate into your day, each one of your selected pieces should be spot on in matching the particular aesthetic you’re going after. Not sure where to start? No worries. We got you! Here’s a look at what you need to pull off modern minimalism to perfection.

Pretty and Polished

Playing with metal finishes and metallic shades is always a good idea when you’re looking to create a contemporary design. They instantly provide for the sleek finish a modern day style calls for.

Bring in a sense of warmth into a design that might otherwise feel stark by complimenting your metals with bright white accents. Think classic pieces that speak to the femininity of a wedding day celebration.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: Pretty Packages for Your Bridesmaids

pretty packages

Couple weeks back we shared our two pennies on how to pop the big “will you be my bridesmaid” question to your BFFs and it all went something like this, “Make it sparkle. Make it pretty!”. If you missed the post, check it out {here}. And because we’re total girly girls, we got so caught up in all the fun that we decided to come up with a couple more super sweet ways to show your besties you adore them and can’t see your big day going off without them. Go for the surprise factor and forgo the usual boxed presentation for a non traditional container that’ll throw her off of what’s inside, a darling monogrammed pendant necklace. And, we love this little glass corked bottle, made all that much more lovely with a touch of lace filler.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: How-To Pop the Big Question (To Your BFFs)

will you be my bridesmaid

He popped the big question. You hollered out an enthusiastic “YES”! The champagne was poured and so now you’re off to the planning board. And what’s one of the first things you’re likely to quickly decide on? The girl crew who’ll stand by your side throughout the whole of your wedding planning  journey. It’s a list of names that will no doubt be made up of childhood friends and close family members, all of which are women you simply can’t live without. Why not take the opportunity to show them just how much they mean to you by making the way you pop your “will you be my bridesmaid” ask something extra special. And when we say special we mean pretty and sparkly of course. Sound like a plan? Then here’s everything you need to make it happen.

Presentation is Key

OK, so the bling is what’s best but don’t overlook how you present it. We’re loving the current trinket tray trend, made that much better when personalized just for her.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: Terrarium Place Markers

diy terrarium place markers

It would be a serious understatement to say that I’m over the moon excited about today’s post. Not only is it a lovely little creative spin on a traditional place card concept, it also happens to be the first exclusive look into the amazing content gracing the pages of the new 2016 Weddingstar magazine. And when I say this is but a tiny glimpse at a mass of unique wedding ideas, all pulled together to help brides everywhere celebrate beautifully, I’m hardly doing the magazine justice. But no need to take my word for it. Take a peek at the cover reveal concluding today’s post and follow the link to get your hands on everything pretty. And in the meantime, here’s how to make these little lovelies.

The Supplies

The Step by Step

diy terrarium place markers - step 1 and 2

Step 1: pull a small mound of faux moss off the ribbon backer. Using a small paint brush, apply mod podge (or any white all purpose glue) to the base of the bell jar and apply the moss. Leave to let dry.

Step 2: once the moss has set, using your twigs create a tunnel in the center of the mound. Apply a small dab of hot glue to the bottom and quickly insert your twigs. Hold until the glue has set and the twigs are securely in place.

diy terrarium place markers - step 3 and 4

Step 3: once your place card has been written out, using the end of your paintbrush, curl the ends of the card. For an authentic scroll effect, angle your brush and do so in opposite direction on either end.

Step 4: hot glue your scroll card to the twigs.

DIY Wedding Wednesday: How-To Update Tradition – The Contemporary Guest Book

the contemporary guest book

There’s something so wonderful about the blending of tried and true traditions with current day trends, about putting contemporary twists on old school concepts. If you’re like me, a closet sucker for sentiment with a keen eye for pretty, then you’re in for a real treat. Using modern materials and on-trend designs, today’s feature products take the traditional concept of a guest book and elevate it x 100. From gorgeous hardcover bindings to delicately personalized pages, the transformation from old to new is major. As an added bonus, they also happen to make for amazing keepsakes and ideal spots to hold some of your favorite wedding day mementos. And with finishing details this pretty, you’re sure to want to put these books on permanent display.

All In The Details

About the only thing these books have in common with their traditional counterparts is their paper makeup. Beyond that, not a detail was left unchanged. Textured hardcovers hold personalized pages. Lined pages are replaced with blanks to open up the opportunity for how these books are used. And front to back, the design details are right on point.

Beyond the Wedding Day

Your guests have left their mark, now it’s your turn to expand on yours. Further the keepsake value of your guest book by turning any unused pages into scrapbook territory. From a copy of your wedding invitation to candid photos taken by your closest and dearest, this is the perfect place to house those mementos that mean the most.
