Every bride wants their wedding to be a unique reflection of their personality and style. Find your flair with this wedding style quiz. What kind of bride are you?
Have you ever received a gift that was so beautifully wrapped you just couldn’t bear to open it up and ruin the presentation? You meticulously took the time to carefully undo every piece of tape holding it together, while hoping that all the lovely would stay in tack. Well we’re about to show you how to be the giver of just such an eye pleasing display. And it’s a lot easier than you may think. By simply playing with textures and layers, you’ll learn how to make one of the prettiest packages around, ideal for gifting to those that meant the most throughout your wedding planning process, your bridal party and your parents. Here’s the crafty how-to.
- 9 x 9 inch gift box and all purpose glue (make sure the one you select is suitable for use on fabric)
- wrapping paper of your choice (we recommend a textured white and got ours at Indigo)
- large pink fabric ruffle flower
- 2 medium decorative rolled fabric lace flowers
- a few faux flowers – we used a peony bud and apple blossoms
- ivory ruffled fabric ribbon trim
- plain fabric ribbon in pastel pink
- lace fabric
- personalized burlap chic design thank you stamp and gold ink
- white merchandise tag
The Step by Step
Step 1: wrap your box and secure the paper using all purpose glue.
Step 2: to the top left corner of your box, glue a bundle of lace fabric. Glue it such that it bunches, rather than laying flat.
Step 3: intertwine the plain fabric ribbon into a quarter of the lace and glue to secure.
Step 4: glue on the fabric flower to the center of the lace.
Step 5: attach the peony bud (or small faux flower of your choice) to the bottom right of the fabric flower, on top of your bunched lace.
Steps 6 & 7: attach both lace fabric flowers next to the peony bud.
Step 8: cut a piece of ruffled fabric trim and a strand of lace (of the same width as the ruffled trim) to a length that will drape off the side of your box. Our strands were approximately 12 inches in length.
Step 9: glue the ruffled fabric ribbon to the bottom left corner of the box, and then attach the piece of lace ribbon to it. A single point of attachment should work for both, allowing the ribbons to hang loosely.
Step 10: glue your faux blossoms to the box, starting just underneath the lace fabric flowers, working your way down creating a cascade alongside the fabric ribbon. End your cascade approximately three quarters of the way down the side of the box.
Step 11: stamp your tag and attach with glue to your box, tucking underneath your lace flowers and cascading blossoms.

12 Months Out – Where to Start
You’re newly engaged, with plenty of time on your hands. Now’s the time to take a moment to enjoy. Meaning? It’s party time! Announce your great news to your closest and dearest by throwing an engagement party and take the opportunity to pop your own big question, “will you be my bridesmaid”, to the besties you want by your side. Here are some of the things you’ll want to consider for your big bash and ask.
9 Months Out – Mark Your Calendars
Make sure no one misses your big day by giving everyone you want to have there plenty of notice. Now’s the time to order and send out your Save the Dates. Select a design that gives your guests insight into the style of wedding you’re having. Haven’t decided on a theme or style yet? Then go with a neutral option that’ll work with any wedding day design and the invitation suite you’ll have to select later on down the planning road.
6 Months – Making it Official
You’re half way there and it’s time to get serious about the details, staring with the ordering of your wedding invitation suite, complete with your reply cards. Although you won’t be sending these out until about 3 months out, you’ll want to leave yourself time to embellish your design if desired, address your envelopes, both your invite and reply envelopes, and to organize your mailing.
5 Months Out – DIY Time
If you’re considering DIY’ing any of your wedding day details, you’ll want to get yourself sorted with all the supplies no later than 5 months out. Whether it’s your invites or your favors that you’re taking on as a crafting project, you’ll want to leave yourself plenty of time to get them right and get them done.
4 Months Out – Making it Pretty
The months are flying by and there’s no putting off the details. At this point you should have a defined wedding day theme and look mapped out, now’s the time to decide how you’ll execute on the vision. And this is one of those times where more is more. The more you style your day with cohesive decorative details, the better your big picture will be.
3 Months Out – Cake Time
All the major to do’s are taken care of. Now you just need to consider all the little extras. You’re probably also now sitting down with your cake designer to decide on your final cake details. If you’re considering a cake topper you’ll want to make that a part of your discussion.
2 Months Out – Many Thanks
The bulk of the planning and prep is probably past you. Take the time to thank those that helped throughout all the planning madness, i.e. bridal party members and parents.
