Style Spotlight: Dreamy and Sweet

Dreamy and Sweet Wedding Dessert Table

There is no doubt that great weddings are made up of two amazing people in love. But what makes them remain a favorite in your guests’ minds comes down to the overall guest experience. One way to make anyone happy, whether at a wedding or not, is with really good food. Sweet potato fries, anyone? So today we’re featuring some of our favorite ways to get your guests’ taste buds revving, including one of our favorite dessert displays (shown above) from the 2016 Weddingstar magazine. Is your mouth watering yet?

Idea 1: The Dessert Station

The dessert station is always a favorite and allows guests to choose from other desserts besides the wedding cake. This is a great way to cater to everyone’s sweet tooth whether they love pie, cake or candy. Plus, having these smaller bites to choose from gives guests something to nibble on throughout the night, or take home with them to enjoy later on.

Idea 2: The Welcome Drink Station

While food is a definite must at weddings, so are the drinks. And what sweeter way to welcome guests to your reception than by displaying a table of drinks ready to enjoy right by the entrance. Whether it’s your favorite mixed drink, a bottle of beer or a glass of wine, it’s sure to be appreciated. Just don’t forget to set out some non-alcoholic options for those that prefer otherwise. Cheers!

Idea 3: The Popcorn Station

Popcorn is a great choice to serve at weddings and is a favorite for all ages. Create a self-serve popcorn station with dip-dyed baskets full of plain popcorn, then set out mini shakers filled with a variety of popular seasonings. You can even pre-fill these shakers with seasonings for guests to take home as favors.

Served grab-n-go style in mingle−friendly bowls that are just the right size, your guests will love this fan favorite. And for those who may not be a fan, have some sweet potato fries at the ready for a snack that’s sure to satisfy. You can even pre-package your favorite chili sauce or spice rub as a favor your guests can use at home.

Style Spotlight: Whimsical Vintage

While we love the look of an outdoor ceremony, sometimes it’s not really feasible. So today, our talented Ambassador, Rebecca Chan, is showing us that even if you can’t have an outdoor ceremony, that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice on style. And here are the pictures to prove it!

From Rebecca:

In Toronto, Canada, we dream of beautiful outdoor ceremonies just like the rest of us but we don’t always have the best weather for it (especially in the cold winter months!). Sometimes what works outdoors doesn’t always translate to something beautiful when indoors.

I designed this styled shoot to give inspiration to brides who are hosting an indoor ceremony, with touches of vintage inspiration and fun, whimsical details for a memorable guest experience. Sip, sip, hooray!

Put Your Name On It: Personalization 101

Bridesmaid-Lifestyle-Shoot--067

Personalization is a key element to creating a look for your wedding that is entirely unique to you. Whether it is the addition of your names, monogram or wedding date, every element adds an extra special touch to your décor. Here’s a sneak peek into the ways in which we create beautiful, personalized products that help make your wedding the best day ever!

Glass Printing

Using a technique called Pad Printing (otherwise known as tampography), our in house production team take a printed 2-D image and apply it to glassware with a sponge-like pad. The image is printed onto this pad, then the glass is pressed down into it allowing the pad to wrap around the glass and impose the printed design onto it. We use this technique for glassware favors such as mason jars, wine glasses, shot glasses and more!

Canda-Bar-14 Modern-Fairytale--132

Digital Printing

Otherwise known as flat printing, we have an in-house print department that produces all of our stationery, stickers, clings, printed envelopes and even printed goodie bags using a high tech digital printer. Our personalization suite allows you to provide all the information your guests will need on your invitations, and with so many stationery collections to choose from you can be sure to find one that matches your style.

UV Printing

Using a state-of-the-art ultraviolet printer, this is how we produce all of our printed aisle runners and photo backdrops. Ultraviolet (UV) printing simply means we use UV inks that dry with the help of UV light, instead of traditional inks that dry by allowing chemicals to evaporate over time.

Modern-Fairytale--027 Modern-Fairytale--030

Heat Pressing

With the help of an industrial heat press, we apply a printed 2-D printed designs to acrylic cake toppers, handkerchiefs and tote bags. We also personalize our burlap aisle runners and table runners this way but because the fibers can interfere with the heat press, we personalize each of those by hand using irons. This way we can ensure your product’s personalization lasts and always looks fabulous!

Foil Stamping

When you order a set of napkins from Weddingstar, you will receive them foil-stamped with your design of choice. You can take your customization one step further by selecting one of our 26 popular color choices! Personalized napkins are a popular trend for weddings and other events such as holidays, birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers and even anniversaries. The addition of foil to our napkins adds another level of luxe. This method can also be applied to our paper goodie bags, ribbon our are brand new faux leather compact mirrors.

Laser Cut Detailing

Most commonly used with our acrylic or wood veneer signs and cake toppers, this technique allows us to create unique designs in a variety of styles. Our in house design team creates custom designs that are then programmed into to our laser cutting machine. When we receive your order and specialized design, this machine will cut the design out of a solid sheet of acrylic or wood veneer, creating a one-of-a-kind piece just for you on your wedding day!

Laser Engraving

Laser engraving is a similar process to laser cutting, except that the power of the beam is less such that it does not cut right through the material. The result of this is a permanent personalized etch into either our wood, metal, leather, acrylic or glass products. Our laser engraved products not only add to your wedding décor, but they make wonderful keepsakes in your home for years to come.

Embroidery

Embroidery adds another level of prestige to products such as chair banners, hankies and our soon-to-arrive tote bags and silky robes. Industrial embroidery machines allow us to produce multiple orders at one time, as this is a very popular option with our brides. Get an embroidered item for yourself or share the love! Embroidered items make wonderful gifts for your bridesmaids and really show how much you care.

Get The Look: Cake Table Decorating 101

Weddingstar Wedding Cake Table Decorating Ideas and Inspiration

Happy Monday Lovelies! Today we’re excited to share with you the key pieces you need to master your cake table design. Whether you’re having a wedding cake, an assortment of pies, candy, or another type of dessert at your wedding, how you decorate your dessert display is a great, and sweet, way to impress your guests. No matter your budget, here are three equally beautiful ways you can decorate your cake table.

Keep it simple

Let’s start with the basics. These are the key pieces you need to accompany your cake or dessert. The serving set is a necessity for serving cake, and with such a selection of serving sets available you can definitely do so in style. The cake topper is a traditional but fun way to show a little personality – even if you’re not serving cake, simply place it next to your dessert for a sweet added touch! Personalized napkins are inexpensive and come in a variety of colors and designs to suit all wedding themes. And if you’re serving smaller bite-size desserts, your napkins can even replace the need to rent extra plates! Here are three great examples of cake tables that stick to the basics.

A little extra

So you’ve got the basics but want a little extra? No problem! Candles are a great way to add inexpensive ambiance to your tables. If your venue doesn’t allow for real flame, choose a few candle holders and pair them with flameless battery operated tealights for the exact same effect without all the worry. Decorative pieces (that suit your theme) and smaller treats (like we saw in the example above) for your guests are some other great ways to add those extra personal touches we all love. Here are two examples of how you can up the ante on your dessert table design.

All the bells and whistles

If you want to create a stunner of a focal point at your reception (and if budget allows), here’s one of our favorite dessert table spreads for 2015. Not just because it’s oh-so pretty, but because there are so many options for guests to choose from. And…they can even take these goodies to-go! While this style is quite classic, you can still get the same look by using the same key pieces outlined below – just choose items that fit your own theme and colors.

5 Great Ways To Use Chalkboard At Your Wedding

Versatile, customizable and with that touch of DIY charm we love, it’s no wonder chalkboards are fast becoming a wedding staple. Whether you’re looking for plain and precise or something a little more ornate, chalkboards now come in a variety of shapes and sizes to match the rest of your wedding day design. Here are some of our favorite ways to use chalkboard at your wedding.

Help them find the way

Guide your guests to their seats with a personalized seating chart, or set out a series of adorable chalkboard bud vases as escort cards that can double as favors (you can also place these little cuties at each seat as a place marker). Help guests find the way to your ceremony or reception (or even your photo booth!), with a personalized chalkboard directional sign – and if chalkboard’s not your style, you can view all the personalized options right here.

Sweetheart seating

Add your own artistic touch to your chairs with this adorable chalkboard bunting banner. It’s just the right size to drape across two chairs which is all you need for you and your new Mr. or Mrs.

Signs of all kinds

Signs are an often overlooked part of wedding day decor that can really add personality. Large or small, use them to welcome guests at the reception, display your drink menu or write your own unique message. Smaller signs work great as table numbers, set out by your favor or drink display, or you can add them to other features of your wedding that are unique to you.

For your favors

If you love the rustic chalkboard look, then share it with your guests! We guarantee they will love these chalkboard favor boxes as much as you do. And the best part is that they come as a kit including the boxes, twine and tags. For an extra personal touch add a personalized tag to match.

Label it

If you’re having any type of food or drink display at your wedding, chances are you will want to label each item. So why not get creative and label each one in style? And whether they clip on or stand alone, these miniature chalkboard signs are the perfect fit for the job. Alternatively, they can double as place cards!

Ceremony Trends: Beyond The Traditional Wedding Ring Pillow

Put a ring in it…Or on it, but if you’re reading this then he’s probably already taken care of that! Today we’re sharing an excerpt from the 2015 edition of the Weddingstar magazine that’s all about our favorite new (and completely unique) ways to present your rings at the ceremony. So, if the traditional pillow isn’t quite your style, here are some unique ways to show off your shiny new bling.

The Dish

Not just for soap anymore, unique dishes have become a popular trend at weddings as a way of presenting the rings. We’ve fallen in love with the idea and the fact that these ring dishes will also look gorgeous on your dressing table at home. Not only are these ring dishes pretty, but their heirloom qualities may inspire a new family tradition. Pass along to your future Mr. or Mrs. for use on their wedding day.

Delicately Detailed

This exclusively designed Porcelain Leaf Ring Plate has a unique leaf shape making it a perfect choice for nature lovers. Made from high quality porcelain it has a delicately embossed pattern and if you look closely you will notice a pair of sweet lovebirds. Designed with openings for ribbon or twine, this pretty plate allows your rings to be safely secured inside.

Not just a ring dish

Not necessarily just for your rings, this vintage inspired Feather Wing Dish can serve another purpose as well. Cast from iron with a distressed white finish it has a unique small shape that fits snugly into the palm of your hand, making it the perfect size to present your wedding rings at the ceremony. It’s dual purpose? This little beauty sits so pretty at place settings you may also want to gift it as a favor your guests are sure to find completely irresistible.

The Box

The ring box is not just any box. It is the box that every bride (and bride-to-be) is restlessly waiting to see before her. It’s an expression of both your personal and wedding style. The way in which you display your rings as they are carried down the aisle is becoming yet another lovely way to personalize your day. And these not-so-ordinary boxes bring on the lovely tenfold. So if you’re trying to think outside the box when it comes to choosing your ring holder, these stunners may just reel you right back in.

On display

This is one box that you can truly make your own thanks to its versatile design. From custom etched monograms to all the personal touches you can place inside (some of our favorite fillers are petals, feathers and moss to name a few), this Acrylic Ring Box will never be replicated. And with a see-through riser to hold your rings, they will appear as if they are floating in your very own display case.

Just the right size

Because of its unique shape, this handcrafted Wooden Ring Box is not your traditional box. It’s a presentation all its own. This adorable keepsake is the perfect size to tuck safely inside any jacket pocket. Made from hand polished dark wood, personalize both the outside and inside with your names, wedding date or your own special message.

The Frame

Commonly used to accent pieces of art or photography, the frame has now been re-designed to hold something else you love and cherish—your wedding rings. The clever combination of a pillow and frame makes this an exceptional way to show off your new rings. This Framed Ring Cushion will look stunning at any vintage or shabby chic affair, not to mention on display in your home long after the wedding. And for a pretty piece of personalization you can call your own, the idea of wrapping the removable pillow in a piece of fabric from your mother’s wedding gown (as shown here) simply makes our hearts sing.

Stick With Tradition

Is the classic pillow still your pick? See and shop our more traditional ring pillow designs right over here. But first, take a look at this adorable miniature version that we couldn’t resist sharing!

The Mini

Perfect for tiny hands, this petite pillow is the sweetest accompaniment for your ring bearer’s walk down the aisle. Made from off-white raw silk, the hand beaded detailing is unmatched in quality and provides a soft, plush surface that will allow your rings to shine. Complete with white satin ribbon, your rings will sit pretty (and securely) in place on this delicately beaded ring pillow.

8 Things I Wish I Knew While Planning My Wedding

We all know that the more often we do something, the better we get. But when it comes to planning a wedding, you only get one shot to get it right. A wedding is a once in a lifetime event, afterall! After the dust has settled from the big day, we want every bride to walk away saying “that was everything I dreamed of” and have no regrets. That is why we asked everyone here at Weddingstar to tell us something they wished they knew while planning their own wedding. Here are 8 things we learned that we think every bride should know.

Weddingstar Classic Wedding Groom in Black Tuxedo

1. Who does what?

Your fiancé might not be as involved as you would like him to be. BUT, that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t care as much about the wedding or that he isn’t as excited as you are to be married. It just means that floral choices and backdrops are not his top priority. The important thing is not to stress about it. Find out which parts of the wedding are most important to him. Chances are that if he is a foodie or loves music, he will show much more interest in planning the dinner or creating the perfect wedding playlist. Don’t be afraid to ask him what he is looking forward to the most. His answer might just surprise you!

Weddingstar Wedding Planner

2. Recruit a coordinator

Even if you DIY your entire wedding up to the day, having a day-of coordinator might be worth it. Having someone to handle the running around and setting up for you is much less stressful. It still allows you to coordinate every detail while being able to enjoy all your hard work on the day of. It is also less costly than hiring a wedding planner!

Weddingstar Classic Wedding Couple

3. Schedule some alone time

Remember to set some time aside. Even if it is just a few minutes to be alone with your sweetie on your wedding day. The day will come and go by so fast. It is important to cherish a moment (or two) with each other and remember why this is all happening in the first place. Some good times to do this are often between photos and cocktails, or after the speeches are over.

Weddingstar Backup Wedding Venue

4. Have a plan B.

This one might be a given, but it is often overlooked. We often dream of our wedding day being sunny and beautiful. But we all know that Mother Nature isn’t always kind. If you are planning to have your ceremony outside and there is a torrential downpour, a backup plan will prevent stress, worry and chaos. Make sure that your parents, wedding planner/coordinator and bridal party are all aware of the plan if the weather turns. Also, remember to pick a few indoor photo shoot locations.

Weddingstar Wedding Alcohol Permits

5. Acquire proper permits

If you are planning to have alcohol at your wedding, it is important to educate yourself on rules and permits. Often different venues will have their own set of rules in regards to alcohol. Make sure you speak with your venue and are clear on what their guidelines are. Is the bar included in your venue rental? Does this include a bartender? Is the permit a part of the package? When are we required to stop serving drinks? Are we able to purchase and serve our own wine or do we need to use your bottle service? These are all very important questions to ask when booking your venue.

Weddingstar Wedding Guest List Wedding Venue

6. Make your guest list first

Picking a venue is one of the very first things you will do when planning your wedding. BUT, there is one more very important step you need to take before signing that contract. Make a rough guest list. This in no way needs to be finalized, but it is so important to have a rough idea of numbers before you book. The last thing you want is to book a venue that only holds 100 and find out that your guest list is actually 150.

Weddingstar Wedding Dress Alterations

7. Consider extra costs beyond the dress

Remember to budget for alterations when picking your wedding dress. Lace applique, beading and other details can often be costly to alter. Before saying “yes” to the dress, talk to your bridal consultant about an alteration estimate.

Weddingstar Wedding Photographer

8. Maximize your photographer’s time (and your budget!)

Photographers and videographers are so important to a wedding, but they can also be very hard on your wedding budget. If your budget does not allow for a full day wedding package, there is still a way to capture all the important moments. Don’t be afraid to play with the traditional reception program. Who said that the bouquet toss and cake cutting have to be at the end of the night? Kick off your reception with the first dance, cut the cake after dinner, and then toss the bouquet. This will allow you to shave a few hours from your photography package while still capturing all those big moments.

Have you been married? Or maybe you’re in the midst of planning a wedding? What is it you wish you knew when going through the process? Tell us below!

3 Easy Steps to Creating the Perfect Favor

Choosing what to give your guests as a token of thanks and a memento of your big day is a fun task, but not always the easiest. Especially with the selection of wedding favors available – it’s so hard to choose just one! Luckily though, it’s not impossible to find (or even create) a favor that is a perfect representation of you and the look you have created for your big day. Today we’re showing you how to create the perfect favor in 3 easy steps.

1. Choose Your Type

Even if you already have an idea of what type of favor you’re looking for, it’s always good to start by getting inspired by all that there is to offer. Start by exploring our favor inspiration gallery to get inspired and to help narrow down your favorites. Here is a breakdown of the different types of favors available.

The Stand-Alone Favor

Possibly the most convenient type of favor, stand-alone favors mean that they don’t require any additional extras beyond the personalization. From salt and pepper shakers to wine bottle stoppers to antique style key bottle openers, most of these lovelies even come with their own gift packaging, meaning they truly are ready-to-gift. Here are some of our favorites!

The Favor Container

Be it a bag, box or one of these unique options, the favor container is one that allows you to fill it with whatever your heart desires. Treat your guests to something yummy like chocolates, macaroons, truffles or even mints. Alternatively, you could fill your chosen container with some fresh floral or wildflower seeds that they can plant. No matter what you choose, it’s yet another way to add a personal touch.

Favor Box Kits

While these are still considered favor containers that are meant to be filled, these handy kits come with all the trimmings necessary for a beautifully embellished favor. If you love DIY but don’t have the time to find all the right trims such as twine, charms and tags, then these kits are perfect for you! Designed to fit a variety of wedding themes, these kits make DIY-ing your favors a cinch.

2. Dress It Up

Now that you’ve found the perfect favor to give to your guests, it’s time to add some sweet and simple personal touches. This is where you can get even more creative by adding different embellishments to make your favors even more memorable. Simply add a personalized tag or sticker and a little ribbon and you’re done! Then, if budget allows add a charm, your own personal stamp and any other embellishments you like to really make it yours. Here are some examples of how you could dress up your favors.

3. Presentation

You’ve chosen your favor and dressed it up to perfection, now the only thing left is to decide how you want to present these pretty little packages to your guests. Here are three of our favorite, and equally pretty, ways to present your favors at your reception.

On Display

Set some room aside on your guestbook or escort card table to display groupings of favors for your guests to take. If you choose this option it is a good idea to include a sign with a simple message like, “please take one”. This not only lets your guests know to take a favor, but it also adds another unexpected personal touch. One of our favorite ways to add messages like this throughout your wedding are with chalkboard signs. Take a look at our selection, right over here.

As Escort Cards

Some favors even serve a dual purpose. Not only are they favors for your guests to keep, but you can use them as place card holders too. Create an impressive escort card display like this one that is sure to impress.

At The Place Setting

Your guests are already excited to be at your wedding, but they’ll be even more excited when they get to their seat only to find a sweet surprise. Placing your favors at the place setting of each guest will make them feel extra special.

So, have you found your favors yet? This is only the beginning! Be sure to check out our entire favor selection at weddingstar.com, or take a look at our favor inspiration gallery for even more great favor ideas.
